I-sing Christmas performance

 It was choice watching my friends at the I-sing Christmas performance. I sang along to some of the songs, then had KFC and a big bowl of fresh fruit and ice-cream for pudding. Tu meke. 

Lunch outing

I went to the Citizens club for lunch and caught up with some of my connect 20 mates. I ordered a bowl of creamy mushrooms with a side of fries and a can of sprite. Boy it was reka!

Drama performance

I went along to drama, supporting my mates who performed in the Christmas show. There were a mix of characters from pirates to santa, a dragon, a baker and lots more, it was all over the show but provided great entertainment. How good! 

Magazine

 I enjoyed chilling out while reading womens weekly today. I love to stay in the know with people in the world and a gossip magazine is the perfect provider. 

Pepeha

In Te Whare Tapawha I tried my best to fill in my pepeha. Some details are blurry but I’m hoping with the help of my cuzzies I’ll be able to fill in the blanks. 

Little visitor

 I was excited when Nicole brought her baby Adaline in for us to see how much she's grown. She is a beautiful pepe. 

Sonic cinema

 I went to our local Sonic cinema the other day to watch "Bad Guys". Although it was an animation it was still funny and a great reminder that its never too late to change your ways.  Ooh I can't forget about the popcorn and juice too, always a plus!

Kai at the citz club

I went out for a Kai today with some of my mates. My creamy mushrooms with fries and sprite really hit the spot. It was so good I’ll probably order that again next time I go. 

Sensory & media

 I’ve been really enjoying travelling to different countries lately, visiting China, Namibia and New Zealand. 

waiata

 My mate Kathy and I did a duet, singing Pokarekare ana. I do love a good jam sesh especially if its a good oldie. 

Purple disco

I had a pretty fab time at our purple disco. I loved watching everyOne dance, enjoy themselves and boogied away when I felt like it. Topped off with some yummy gourmet hanawiti, aah what a tumeke day.

Young at Heart festival

 I went to the Young at Heart festival today, it was at the Holy Trinity Church. I enjoyed watching the kapa haka performance and the family trio singing. We wondered around, checkout the stalls, the outdoor games and even dressed up for a funny photo. It was choice to get out into the community.

Sonic Cinema

 I spent the morning at Sonic Cinema watching the animation movie Migration. It was about a family of ducks who worked hard to migrate to Jamaica, running into a bit of trouble along the way. It's not my usual type of movie but it did provide a few laughs.

Lunch at the Citz

I went out to the Citz club for lunch with my connect 20 mates. I ordered the fish burger with a side of chips but decided I didn't want the burger, I pulled it apart and only ate the fish. Next time I'll order the fish and chips ay ha ha. 

 

Raranga putiputi

Our Te Whare Tapa Wha roopu (group) have been working hard to create a bouquet of ataahua (beautiful) putiputi (flowers) we raranga (wove) using harakeke (flax). We’ll be dyeing them next week.

 

Citz Club drink

I went out for a social drink with a few mates. I enjoyed my lemonade and am looking forward to our lunch in a couple of weeks.

 

                                                  

Chilling out

I love kicking back and watching movies with my mates, today I watched The Princess Diaries. It's not my typical go-to genre but it still provided the comedy so that was cool.

 

Sonic Cinema

I enjoyed watching the movie School of Rock at the Sonic cinema. I like the childrens voices, they could really sing well. 

Lunch at the Citz Club

It was nice to get out for lunch with my friends.

I ordered my Fish & Chips at the Citizens Club, I really enjoyed it!!! Ka Reka!

 

Creative Kitchen - Beef Stew

 Creative Kitchen

On todays menu we have a yummy beef stew, with added potato and carrots.

Another opportunity to get into the kitchen popped up and you know I got straight in there! I threw my apron on and got stuck into the mahi. Peeling and chopping potatoes, mixing the pot, we whipped up a mean kai. 

Deadpool & Wolverine

Today I watched Deadpool & Wolverine at Event Cinemas at the lakes. It's just been released which means we watched it in the Vmax cinema and it was huge! The screen was massive, the seats were super comfy and the popcorn tasted pretty good. The movie was actioned packed, which I love and the comedy in it had me cracking up! Although I didn't enjoy the walking, I'm so stoked I got out into the community today. 

Tukutuku Painting

 Te Whare Tapa Whā

I began the prep work for our tukutuku panels which we will be making using recycled frames, which I painted today, and other resources which we will gather later. The tukutuku panels will be a neat addition to our Wharenui.

Paddington

I chose to head out and watch Paddington at Sonic cinema. I love relaxing in front of a movie, so getting out into the community to do what I love was choice. The popcorn and juice were an awesome bonus. 

 

Pamper

I had my nails painted during our pamper session. I even got to sit back and watch my movie while it was being done. I used the red polish I bought a couple of weeks ago. Apparently I have the perfect painting nails ha ha. 

Hot soak

I enjoyed a relaxing soak at the Mount hot pools the other day. The fresh water salt was hot, the clouds were grey and it was perfect. I’d love regular hot soaks, it’s the perfect way to relax and let my muscles recover. 

Nail Polish

I went on an outing to the Warehouse today, down at Fraser Cove. I wanted my own nail polish for our next pamper session. I bought a red colour.  

Creative Kitchen - Steak & Creamy Mushrooms

Guess who's back in the kitchen! 

On the menu today - Steak and creamy mushrooms. We all had a hand in helping out, I added a table spoon of garlic to the pan and enjoyed the aroma that filled the kitchen. The kai was cooked to perfection. Yum!

 

Creative Kitchen - Curry Sausages

I chucked my apron on, rolled up my sleeves and got my cooking on! My mates and I cooked a Japanese Curry Sausage meal, following our recipe step by step we created a masterpiece. I cut sausages, caramelised the onions, added the curry and stirred the pot until it was all cooked. I even served up my own bowl. Just call me “Sous Chef Carrie”.

Chilling out

Most days, when I’m centre based you’ll often find me chilling out in the sensory room watching Māori tv or a good action movie. It’s pretty chilly today so I happily sat under the heater and watched The Italian Job during my Twinkl session. Tūmeke!

Sonic Cinema

 I went to Sonic Cinema to watch Sing. It’s not usually my cup of tea but hey, a movie is a movie and you all know I love my movies. I sat right at the front next to ol’ mate Nigel and enjoyed my popcorn and cordial. Fingers crossed the next one is a good action movie. 

Hot Lunch Fundraiser

What’s on the menu at Wilrose Centre today you ask? Wouldn’t you like to know.. Ha ha jokes. Our awesome staff, Nicole and Dwayne whipped up a mean feed of curried sausages and spag bowl. I had a couple slices of bread to tautau in the sauce. Rēka! I washed it all down with a cold glass of lime cordial. Kua kī pai tōku puku.

Treasures of the Moana

Today I explored some treasures of the moana. I enjoyed feeling the different textures of the pumice and shells. There were lots of shapes and sizes. I also listened to the sound of Tanagaroa through the Puutatara, maybe one day I will learn to play it. Wouldn't that be neat!

 

Meat patties

What’s on the menu today?

Today I got my apron on and cooked up some tasty meat patties. The guys and I wrote out the recipe, we followed it step by step and voila, tasty meat patties. We used a variety of ingredients including oats and milk as our flour substitute. Che check us out! I'm looking forward to rolling up my sleeves and getting back in there when I can.

 

Rump steak!

Ooooo yummy this week I got cooking up a a storm in the kitchen. Rump steak with a side of cabbage and onion from the Wilrose garden cooked in butter. I cooked the steak with some

garlic just how I like it medium rare!
